Stake and Limits

Whether you join or create a cash game, you will be asked to set a stake and a limit. The stake is the value per point in the game, and the limit is the maximum amount you can win or lose in that particular game. The stake limit is a backgammon rule best known from online backgammon. Setting a limit will effectively limit the doubling cube. For example, a game played with a stake of $5 and a limit of $40, will effectively limit the doubling to 8.

For match play, you will be asked to set a stake. This stake is also the limit, and the winner of the match will win it all.

The minimum stake for cash games is $1, and the maximum $500.

A player cannot create or join a game with a greater cash limit than his account balance.

Time Bank and Turn Timer

Playing at Ladbrokes Backgammon you should be aware of two timers. At the start of each game, you will have a full "turn timer" and "time bank". The turn timer will start counting down every time it is your turn. If the turn timer runs out, the time bank will start counting down. The turn timer will be reset each turn, so you have anough time to roll, double or move your chequers. The time bank will only reset at the beginning of a new game. The time bank is used to ensure games proceed at an respectable pace, and to allow players to resume playing should they suffer a disconnection. If you suffer from connection problems we recommend using Normal Timers.

When creating a game in the lobby, you are given the opportunity to set your preference for the timers.

Fast Game gives you a turn time of 15 seconds and the time bank 60 seconds.

Normal Game gives you a turn time of 30 seconds and the time bank 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Added Time Game gives you a turn time of 60 seconds and the time bank 5 minutes.

If you fail to finish your move before your TIme Bank runs out, you will forfeit the game according to the terms and conditions of Ladbrokes Backgammon.

Disconnections

Ladbrokes Backgammon requires a constant connection between your computer and our servers. When playing Backgammon over the Internet, there are certain events that are beyond our control.

Should you become disconnected from Ladbrokes Backgammon (for whatever reason), you will have until the end of your Time Bank for you to reconnect. When you are back in the Backgammon Lobby, wou will need to log in, and the game will start at the point it was left or where you opponent has made his/her move. If you do not return within the time of the Timebank, we will use special evaluation software to settle the game. If we evaluate one party is favourite to win the game, the player will be awarded the majority of the wager committed in the game. In a Cash Game, if we evaluate one player is likely to win a gammon (or backgammon) we will allocate a multiple of the stake in play to the favourite.

Generally the balance on the server when logging on to Ladbrokes Backgammon and/or the games (as appropriate), after a line has been disconnected or become non-responsive, will reflect the true balance after completion of the last game prior to the breakdown in communications.

We regret the imposition of the above, however it is necessary to avoid further complications.

Should you become disconnected from Ladbrokes Backgammon, we cannot and will not be liable for any losses that may result there from. The balance of a customer's account will at all times be that which is recorded on our server.
