  • How do I download the software?

With Ladbrokes backgammon there is no need to download or install any software, meaning you can play on any PC (or Mac) whether at home or at work at the click of a button. Ladbrokes backgammon is run using Macromedia Flash Player which is standard on most computers. To get the latest version of Macromedia's Flash Player for free, visit their website here

How do I play the smaller dice?

By default the bigger dice number is played when you click on a chequer. To play the smaller dice first (especially from the bar) simply move your mouse to the top right (over the smaller dice) and click. This will move your chequer the smaller amount.

    What does rating mean?

All players on Ladbrokes Backgammon have a rating. When you win games your rating will go up and when you lose games it will fall. Beating an opponent with a higher rating will improve your rating more than winning over a player with a lesser rating. Losing to a player with a low rating will affect your rating more than losing to a player with a higher rating. NB! Player ratings are for guidance only and can be manipulated by deliberately losing games. Ladbrokes will ban any players found to do so.

How can I be sure my deposits are safe?

By using the very latest network infrastructure and server equipment, Ladbrokes banking systems have been designed to ensure that all transactions are carried out in a totally secure environment. We have invested in the same communications technology as used by global banking, government and military establishments. By utilising 128-bit encryption and Secure Socket Layer technology we can ensure your absolute confidence when betting or gaming with Ladbrokes.

Can I chat to other players?

It is possible to chat to your opponent, but whilst this is fun it can also be a distraction. You can chat in any language you prefer, and can use the speed chat function to chat to people in their own language. Using the speed chat drop down menu will send a message in your opponents preferred language.

What should I do if someone is abusing the chat facility?

Ladbrokes does not tolerate abusive or offensive language in the chat. Any player who persists in such chat risks losing their chat privileges or even having their accounts suspended. Whilst we do monitor and record all table chat, should you witness or receive any such abuse we would sincerely appreciate your bringing it to our attention immediately by pressing the "Report Abuse" button in the chat options menu. All information received is always treated in the strictest confidence.

    Can I change my alias?

Backgammon aliases cannot be changed. Our registration software and security systems will only allow one backgammon account per person, per PC and per household. This is a security feature designed to protect all our customers from fraudulent activities.

Can I play at more than one game at the same time?

It is possible to play at up to 2 simultaneous games. Please be aware that simultaneously playing multiple games is done at the player's own risk.

What happens if I am disconnected from the Internet and Ladbrokes Backgammon?

Information travelling from your PC to our gaming servers in Gibraltar makes a long journey across many networks and must pass through a number of network routers. Should this information encounter any delay or have to be re-routed at any network hop, this may cause your connection to be dropped. Sometimes your PC receives a return message to inform you of disconnection, at other times your PC will be completely unaware and it may appear as though the game has stopped or frozen.

Unscheduled disconnects occur primarily because of infrequent line drops, which happen due to irregularities along the telephone networks. The line quality of telephone cable can vary from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, and can be particularly poor if you are in a rural area. When it rains or when it's cold and damp, line conditions will be affected more than when the weather is good.

Our gaming servers and their connectivity to the internet are monitored 24 hours a day, if our gaming servers do suffer from either network downtime or connectivity issues, all players online will be affected and Ladbrokes server crash rules apply to all games in progress. Ladbrokes cannot be held responsible for customer or third party disconnections, unfortunately the problem of occasional disconnection is an inherent aspect of playing online.

If, for whatever reason, a player is disconnected and does not return to the game before their timers run out, Ladbrokes will settle the game and split the stakes according to the board equity at the time of the disconnection.

Can I play against an automated or robot player?

The use of any artificial intelligence, neural network or other software to play, aid or assist play on Ladbrokes Backgammon is strictly forbidden. Ladbrokes use highly sophisticated software and market leading management tools to detect such fraudulent activity. Any player suspected of such fraudulent activity will have their account suspended immediately and their money confiscated and put into free-roll tournaments.

How do I take a screenshot?

(Windows) While the game board is on the screen simply hit the PRINT SCREEN key (normally in the top right of the keyboard) - then go to the Windows START Button (bottom left) - select RUN - type MSPAINT and hit Enter/OK. Hit CTRL + V to paste the screenshot. Save this, give it a name and attach it to your email. This will help us to diagnose whatever problem you are having.
